SOUNDSHIP (DESCENDER 1) is an Aeolian spacecraft built in our studio which we intend to float up to the edge of space, sailing all the way up through the jet stream, we hope to break the 100,00 ft mark. (DESCENDER 1) acts as a wind-driven instrument and as a platform that carries a range of tracking and recording devices suspended beneath a latex weather balloon that is designed to burst once it reaches zero pressure, high up in the ionosphere. Our payload will then float back to the earth beneath a parachute. The recording of the flight will then become a sound composition made in sympathy with the elements, music brought about between earth and sky.
